Jeeves report to the Rogue Trader upon his awakening: -

Dear Sir, while you have been incapacitated, we, the humble members of your crew have attempted to carry on in your place as best we could. Word of warning, we were forced to carry out a mild deception to explain your lack of appearance at the Vice Admirals feast. We told the various dignitaries that you were in religious communion praising the emperor for his aid in our escape from the planet below and in the defeat of the Tyranid fleet. I do not consider this entirely un truthful as I do believe you spent some of the time you have been conscious groaning 'Oh emperor'.

The enginseer prime took you place as the ranking officer while you were unavailable and lead a party consisting of himself, the master helmsman, the Chief Chirgeon, the ships confessor, the Omnissianic congregator and myself to a victory banquet hosted by the Vice Admiral of the fleet that defeated the Tyranids. The gathering was started with a cocktail party where the senior officers of the several dozen ships of the fleet could mingle. Among the throng I noticed a rather striking young woman wearing a tastefully discrete inquisitorial rosette. She seemed rather interested in the Yamato and your good self and I introduced her to the Enginseer.

Soon after the chimes were sounded for the banquet itself, a rather sumptuous 40 course feast to take place over the next 6 hours and to include the traditional 136 toasts. Our delegation was separated according to our rank and positions. The Enginseer, as acting captain, was positioned at the high table in the guest of honours position between the vice admiral and the Inquisitor, the three of them discussed the current state of the Yamoto and I believe he may have obtained the Vice Admirals aid in the refitting of the ship. Most of the rest of the discussion was mere small talk although I believe the Chirgeon was able to obtain information from his peers that now allow you to read this missive.

After the banquet had concluded the lady inquisitor and the Vice Admiral and their entourage invited themselves back to the Yamoto to view its magnificence for themselves. One the trip back I was secretly informed by the first officer that a situation had occurred on the ship and that it would be best if our visitors bid not observe various parts of the ship.

I was later to discover that it had come to light that many of the Imperial Guardsmen which had been stationed on our ship and which you had adopted were in fact tainted by Tyranid organisms and contained among their numbers the creatures known as Genestealers. The Master at arms and his clan had detected this taint and had begun to purge their numbers and the creatures and their deluded kin and begun to fight back leading to open combat in the Barracks and other areas of the ship.

I passed on the first officers warning to the Enginseer and he arranged for the tour to avoid the troubled parts of the ship. The Confessor, Chirgeon and Helmsman discreetly slipped away to aid in the fighting. Thanks to the Enginseer's efforts I believe that most of our guests were entirely unaware of the events unfolding. Indeed the vice admiral seemed most impressed and soon left offering us aid in obtaining the refitting the ship. The lady inquisitor asked that she be allowed to remain on the ship for the foreseeable future, begging you pardon sir, but In took the liberty of offering her and her entourage the rooms currently occupied by you courtesan, the mistress of gasha as I judged these rooms to be of the best quality available allowing the lady inquisitor easy access to any small services I might provide her and keeping her well away from the more common crew. I am sure the mistress of gasha will be able to find accommodation with members of her family for the interim.

After the surviving Imperial guardsmen has surrendered the chimergeon started a wide spread test to locate any further tainted among their ranks. I was found that the master of arms had been somewhat overzealous in his job and that just under 50% of the dead were merely misguided rather than tainted, however, we did locate those tainted individuals which had remained hiding by surrendering. The remaining Imperial guard force, approximately 50% of the starting numbers are now suitable cowed by the forces available on the ship and should recognise the folly of attempting further disturbances in the near future.
